Studio in Swiss Cottage

This painting 'Zarathustra' is shown photographed in JM's studio in Swiss Cottage in 1964. He painted in one room of the flat that he lived in with his wife Beth and first son Robert. The last paintings made in this room in 1966 were 'Night Time' and 'Golden Age' which were both so large that they went diagonally from corner to corner of the room. In June 1966 the family moved to Kingston upon Thames, where JM proceeded to build his own studio in the garden.
